The age, mash bill, and my personal tasting notes have me thinking this is quite possibly from when Bulleit was sourcing from Four Roses. Smaller market, and they usually prefer your standard JB or JD. If you’re also in NC, Wilkesboro has a much better selection than, say Charlotte or Winston Salem, etc. It is funny how some profiles work for some and not for others. I think what I could get was a Blue Ridge edition? But, I didn’t see them until I had already purchased the Pinhook. Or, one of those special Makers Mark private selection, where they put them together using different barrels. I soooooo wish I would’ve grabbed this Bulleit that day instead. It’s their high proof Bourbon Heist, and there’s something there that I just don’t enjoy. ![]() I picked up a Pinhook last week and it just doesn’t fit my tastes. It’s one of my favorites now and it’s best to strike when the iron is hot these days. I think I’m going back tomorrow and grabbing a couple more in fact.
